FROSTGRAVE - Fantasy Wargames in the Frozen City
Amidst the frozen ruins of an ancient city, wizards battle in the hopes of discovering the treasures of a fallen empire. In this fantasy skirmish wargame, each player takes on the role of a wizard from one of ten schools of magic, and builds his band of followers. The wizard's apprentice will usually accompany his master, and more than a dozen other henchman types are available for hire, from lowly thugs to heavily armoured knights and stealthy thieves. Wizards can expand their magical knowledge by unlocking ancient secrets and
may learn up to 80 different spells. While individual games of Frostgrave are quick and can easily be played in an hour or two, it is by connecting them into an ongoing campaign that players will find the most enjoyment. In the campaign section, players will find treasure tables, rules for establishing bases, and even tables for wandering monsters. The scenarios given in the book are merely the beginning of the limitless adventures that can be found amidst the ruins of the Frozen City.
As Frostgrave is a table-top miniatures game, we’ve teamed up with Osprey Games to bring you the official Frostgrave figures. We’ve based them on the illustrations in the book, painted by artist Dmitry Burmak. The Wizards are in packs of two figures, a Wizard and an Apprentice of a particular school. There are 10 different schools of magic in the game Frostgrave, and we have a pack of Wizards for each. These figures are made of pewter. The specialist followers that the Wizards can employ, such as thieves and barbarians. These are also pewter figures. The box of twenty plastic figures to represent the soldiers the Wizards employ to accompany them into Frostgrave. The box set contains plenty of different weapon and equipment variants that no two Wizard parties will ever look the same.

Enchanters are hands-on wizards, who work their magic by implanting it in objects or people. Many Enchanters are also craftsmen, such as carpenters or sculptors, who work their magic into the pieces they create. Summoners work their magic by opening doorways to different planes of existence. Usually this is to bring forth creatures from these other planes to use as servants, although there are other ways to use this power. Witches draw on the subtle powers of nature for their magic, and specialize in the brewing of potions, casting of curses, and seeking aid from plants and animals. Despite popular thought, most witches are not old, ugly women. Potentially the most powerful of all wizards, Chronomancers use magic to manipulate time itself. As the youngest branch of magic, it is less developed, and less understood than any of the others, and is thus potentially more dangerous. The subtle magic of a Soothsayer allows the wizard to expand his senses outside of his body, including through time itself. They can reach into the past to learn the secrets of history, or they can look into the future. Necromancers study the magic and spells associated with death, as well as the creation and control of undead creatures such as zombies and animated skeletons. They generally wear dark colours (most commonly black). Sigilists work magic through reading and writing. They are the masters of languages, both living and dead, and can see the magical patterns in writing of all types. Most famously, they are the writers of magical scrolls and books. Elementalists are the most outwardly powerful type of wizard. Their magic is centred around controlling the four elements, usually in loud, explosive, and unsubtle ways. Their clothes tend to feature one bold colour . Thaumaturges draw their magical powers from positive energy. Most, though not all, believe this energy comes from some form of deity. These wizards are healers and protectors, who often spend as much time on good works as they do on the study of magic. Sometimes taunted for being mere stage magicians, an experienced Illusionist can be a dangerous foe. Illusionists use magic to fool the senses, to cause confusion and fear, and to convince people of things that aren’t true.

Crossbows: Although they are uncommon in the ruins, some soldiers do carry crossbows. Crossbows take one action to load and one action to fire. Most commonly they appear as a grotesque combination of numerous animal forms, assembled without rhyme or reason. Free Lecturn
