Non-Grimdark Style Painting Competition!
Painting Competition Entrants.
Miljenko Martinic. Miljac Je Moje Ime. Winged Wizard. Frostgrave and Stargrave plastics. Stunning work
from a previous North Star competition winner. Great use of the Frostgrave Demon wings too.
Lindsay Meaklim. Knight and his Squire (jury’s out on which one's which). Frostgrave Knight. This truly
captures a story in miniature! The painting on the cat is impressive. A well-conceived and skilfully executed piece!
Jack Adkins. Bright Knight. Frostgrave Knight. I was stunned when I saw this Knight. Not a colour scheme I
thought I'd ever see, amazing work on the sword and so fitting for our 'category two' description.
Samuel Fradsham. Ten Cultists. Frostgrave Cultists. Great use of the limited palette, lovely rich reds and
mellow creams and browns, great weapons too. Kudos for a big unit too, that’s a lot of work.
Tomohiro Itakura らくだ屋. Demon. Stargrave Mercenaries2, Frostgrave Wizards2, Soldiers2, Cultists. That’s a
fantastic build! The pink horns complement the lighter skin tones beautifully. The demon’s tail is a clever detail.
Ricky Stewart. Rik Stewart. Knight. Frostgrave Soldiers II. The colour choices are bold and eye-catching, and
the shield design ties everything together well. A well-thought-out combination that really enhances the overall look.
Steven Bergmann. Stuv Bergmann. Scavenger Wizard. Mix Oathmark and Stargrave plastics. This build is
pure joy! The bold orange is striking and expertly handled, pulling off such a colour so seamlessly is hard.
Paul Cornhill. Spectral Soldier. Silver Bayonet. This has a truly spectral quality, the transitions to those paler,
ethereal shades create an amazing effect. A mesmerizing piece and a strong contender, no doubt.
Sean Parker. Smugglers. Rogue Stars Smugglers. The clean execution and bold colour choices really stand out,
and the bases add an intriguing element to the overall presentation. A well-crafted piece with distinctive details!
Ben Vartok. Ranger. Artizan Borderlands Ranger with sword 2. The muted colour palette is thoughtfully
chosen, creating a cohesive and convincing composition. The hyper-realistic base is a real stand-out.
Carl Simpson. Scavenger. Stargrave Scavengers. Another very fitting Category Two entry and beautifully
painted. The pink on the ammo pouches and holsters is a triumph. Great vivid flesh alien tones.
Peter Russo. French. The First French Unit, The Silver Bayonet. Historical colour choices always bring an
extra layer of authenticity, and these are executed beautifully. That snow base? Absolutely top-notch!
John Southgate. Mercenary. Stargrave Mercenaries II. Fantastic use of pastel colours. Truly a non-Grimdark
Sci-Fi figure, wonderful. If we had another Special Mention to give this would have got it. Superb skin tones.
Archer. Frostgrave: Ghost Archipelago Crewmen. The bold colour choices really stand out, the red and green
combination is striking and well executed. The stripy trousers add a great extra touch.
Antonio Albaladejo. Pixies. The Silver Bayonet. The soft pastel tones work beautifully on these Pixies,
creating a delicate and well-balanced look. The flesh tones are especially well done, definitely a strong entry!
Peter Smith. Human Officer. Oathmark Human Infantry. The colour choices are well-judged, subtle and
restrained, working perfectly for the model. The distressing adds depth and character without overdoing it.
